Intentionality: Eternal Resolutions
Philippians 2:12-13
It’s been a
while since I’ve been here, so thank you to the people who encouraged me to
come back. I wish I had a good, non-cowardly, faith filled reason for not
writing. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
In 2019, I
began a new tradition and started a ‘Blessings and Promises’ jar. Every
thought, goal, or accomplishment that I deemed wonderful or miraculous I wrote
down and placed in the jar so I could look back over them at the end of the
year. One of my biggest achievements was the one-year anniversary of this blog.
The last
time I wrote, I had a life changing opportunity that I was excited, yet afraid
to take. As it turns out the opportunity for a new change was given to someone
else. I went to bed that night sad, kicking myself for being afraid of the opportunity,
since God obviously took that fear as an indicator that I wasn’t ready (in my
mind, of course). I woke up the next day ready to walk in the same highly
functional depression I tend to dwell in during these times.
“Oh well, on to the next opportunity…”
“I really didn’t want to do that
anyway…”
“Don’t worry, I’m fine…”
All the
while I wasn’t sure what to think. Maybe where I am is where I’m going to be
forever. I did the very thing people told me not to do, which is get stuck.
Which leaves nothing but doubt, fear, and hopelessness.
As the year ended,
I pulled out those blessing and promises I had written throughout the year for
my own personal 2019 year in review. After reading all those slips of papers, I
realized I didn’t have a year of failure, fear, doubt or of hopelessness. God’s
faithfulness, protection, provision, and great love became showed up all year
long.
And if He’s
that intentional about seeing me through 30 years of life thus far, then I have
to reciprocate. So INTENTIONALITY is the word of the year for me. It’s what I
call my eternal resolution. I will intentionally set out to “work out my
salvation;” to do the things that will please Him. That is, trusting that He
knows what He’s doing and to make sure I’m ready when He presents the
opportunity that’s tailor made for me.
And you
already accountability is important to me, so don’t leave me hanging! Let’s be
intentional in going for the things meant for us this year. I’m excited to see
where God leads us in 2020!!
